The Palazzetto
The PalaRaiffeisen is Lugano's new sports hall, a symbol of the transformation of the Cornaredo district into a sports and events hub (PSE)
THE LUGANO SPORTS HALL
Lugano's new home for sports and events: a space to train, compete and enjoy shared experiences.
The Palazzetto will accommodate up to 3,000 spectators for sporting events and will be configurable for basketball, volleyball and numerous other indoor disciplines. Technical spaces and gyms dedicated to different sports activities are planned alongside the main Palazzetto.
The Palazzetto is also designed to host concerts, shows and indoor events, with a capacity of up to 4,000 spectators, making it the largest and most modern indoor concert hall in Ticino.
The PalaRaiffeisen will be completed by the end of 2026 and, together with the AIL Arena, represents one of the main elements of the new Cornaredo sports complex, destined to become a landmark for sports and events in Lugano.
Together with Raiffeisen
The PalaRaiffeisen was also born thanks to the collaboration between the City and Raiffeisen, naming partner of the Palazzetto. A partnership founded on shared values: the promotion of sports, attention to the territory, support for young people and the desire to create opportunities for new generations. Together, the goal is to give life to an open, inclusive and dynamic space, capable of growing local sports and strengthening Lugano's role as a living, attractive and connected city.
A space that lives, every day
The PalaRaiffeisen is much more than a sports facility: it is a place that can be experienced in different ways, by athletes, audiences and organizers. A Palazzetto for big games, spaces to train and grow, environments to meet, work and share experiences.
The Palazzetto
- This is the heart of the PalaRaiffeisen, designed to host sports competitions and indoor events.

- surface area 1,940 sq. m.
- Glassflor sports floor
The gymnasium will specifically host Lugano Basketball and Lugano Volleyball games and can be transformed to accommodate non-sporting events.
Training Spaces
The Palazzetto includes numerous spaces dedicated to the activities of city sports clubs and the development of young athletes. These include:
- gymnasium for martial arts
- gymnasium for table tennis
- gymnasium for fencing with 16 platforms
- double gym for volleyball and rhythmic gymnastics
- fitness gym
- fitness room
Spaces designed to ensure continuity of training and support the growth of different disciplines.
FOR HIGH-LEVEL SPORTS COMPETITIONS
Spaces for athletes and teams
The facility is equipped with all the necessary facilities for holding sports competitions:
- 18 locker rooms for athletes
- changing rooms for coaches and referees
- physiotherapy room
- anti-doping room
- laundry room for clubs
- warehouses and storage rooms
These spaces make it possible to host training, youth activities and sports development programs.
Spaces for the public
The Palazzetto is also designed as a meeting place for the city. The central gallery leads to the 700-square-meter foyer, which will welcome the public during events and shows and can host social activities, initiatives and sharing moments.

The Palazzetto also has dedicated spaces for guests and partners:
